Main Clubroom
This is where the majority of activities take place. At any time you will find a variety of layouts being worked on or having some serious running take place. The pictures below show how the club has developed the available space - the portacabin was the first thing to go.
The picture on the left shows the same room from a similar position prior to the latest delevopment, where our mezzanine area has been extended.
To the right of the marked gangway is one of our O gauge layouts, Warley Road, which is a permanent layout. On the left is Halston Junction, one of our OO layouts. The mezzanine area presently houses O gauge layout 82G as well as the 7mm NG layout Nancledre Harbour together with a new American HO project.
Looking further down the left hand side of the room, the N gauge group occupies the space under the mezzanine. Beyond that is Yardlea, another OO layout, then the kitchen area with the passageway to the front door and other facilities. Above this area is another mezzanine where the EM group can normally be found.
Down the right hand side can be seen the end of another OO layout, Horton Junction & Glascott Central, whilst adjacent to it and against the wall will be found the S7 group with one of their layouts. In the distance is the general storage area.
The picture here is taken from the opposite end of the clubroom and the extended mezzanine can clearly be seen. This space has enabled some shuffling of layouts to take place. OO layout Halston Junction is in the foreground, with part of S7 layout Ellerton Road just in view on the left and O gauge Warley Road beyond. The far right hand corner houses OO layout Horton Junction, whilst on the right can be seen Sandwell County.
The mezzanine now hosts OO layouts Yardlea and Awdry St Nicolas, O gauge 82G, O-16.5 Nancledre. Also two new layouts under construction can be found here, namely a large OO BR loco shed and an American HO.
The picture to the right shows it before purchase, when a small group of us assessed its possibilities.
